Bhubaneswar proved to be a happy hunting ground for Assam tennis player Abhinansu Borthakur as he won a men’s singles title for the second time in this Temple city today. The fourth seed from Assam achieved the feat in style, getting the better of top seed and local favourite Chinmay Pradhan 7-5, 6-0 in the final of the Falcon-AITA 50K Men`s Ranking Tennis Tournament here at Kalinga Stadium.
Overall, this was the fourth title for Borthakur, who collected 15 AITA ranking points and a cash prize of Rs 6,500. He had claimed his first men’s title here at SOA University Tennis Complex six months ago. Pradhan, the Odisha No 1, settled with 12 ranking points as runner-up. He, however, drew appreciation for his fighting spirit.
